site analysis
Architectural site analysis (or site analysis) is the process of evaluating a particular locations physical, mental, and social characteristic with the ambition of developing an architectural solution that will both address and enhance its internal and external context. A site analysis also includes a zoning check to investigate the local zoning regulations.
design development
Design Development includes the Design Brief which gathers information about the client, their needs and their wants. This usually includes a room program. The construction budget will also be discussed and analyzed at this stage of the project.
This information is then taken away and analyzed, along with the information from the Site Analysis for development by the designer.
preliminary drawings
The most exciting stage for the clients, Preliminary Drawings are the initial set of sketches, drawings, plans and renderings used to visually convey concepts, designs ideas, and project requirements among design professionals, clients, landlords, tenants and other project stakeholders.
Preliminary drawings may include site plans, floor plans, or other structural diagrams necessary that will guide the detailed and expensive work of creating more specific construction plans.
construction documentation
Construction documentation is the set of documents that contains detailed information and instructions for each stage of construction. It includes various types of drawings, specifications, floor plans, and other vital information that indicate the design, measurements, materials, and other aspects of the project.
Construction documentation helps in communicating the design intent, ensuring quality control, facilitating coordination among stakeholders, and complying with regulations. It also helps in resolving any issues or conflicts that may arise during the project.
feasibility studies and code reviews
A feasibility study is an assessment of the practicality of a project. A feasibility study aims to objectively and rationally uncover the strengths and weaknesses of an existing or proposed development and threats present the natural environment, the resources required to carry through, and ultimately the prospects for success. In its simplest terms, the two criteria to judge feasibility are cost required and value to be attained.
Throughout the architectural process, your architect will review applicable codes and ensure the building complies. They will also submit design plans to your local jurisdiction during permitting, a process known as a code review.
Although owners are rarely involved in this work, codes affect the building’s design, so you may discuss them with your architect.

Code Reviews often go hand in hand with feasibility studies as well as the design development stage, especially on larger projects where codes may have major cost implications for a project.
